A Holistic Perspective Of Mental Health

I don’t know about you, but I like it when things make sense. You’re here because you feel stuck in a problem that keeps happening no matter how many times you’ve tried to solve it. I’m here to tell you that there’s another way to make sense of your mental health and relationship problems, backed by evidence based research and current literature. My job is to put myself out of a job by surveying all of the objective data surrounding your problematic patterns, then form tailor made interventions to break your unwanted cycles of thought, feeling, and behavior. By the end, you’ll find the change you’re looking for, in addition to being equipped with a completely different lens of people, problems, and change.

Matthew Tapper, MS, LMFT

Hi, I’m Matt. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for the States of Pennsylvania and Delaware. I’m passionate in utilizing systemic insights to facilitate change with individuals, couples, and families. I can do this by closely observing patterns within patterns of relating, utilizing a holistic lens to make sense of your ongoing problem by examining all objective components contributing to its ongoing cyclical maintenance. When individuals/couples truly grasp how their roles in the problematic cycle makes sense, they can finally embrace an authentic accountability for their part, while also holding a sense of compassion for self and the other. This is the keystone of Marriage and Family Therapy, that’s evidence based and allows for the facilitation of authentic change without the use of a Mental Health Diagnosis. Feeling stuck in problem feels hopeless, reinforcing that either you or your partner is broken. I’m here to tell you that your perception makes sense, but it’s also not objective. At the end of the day I’m a huge nerd for this way of thinking, and working on a dissertation for my PhD in it. You can trust that things are far more complicated than what’s commonly known, but once you get it… it just makes sense.

  • I tend to have an overall positive impact with every problem a client is faced with simply by diagraming the problem on a whiteboard (digital or otherwise), however I excel the most with clients who’ve lost hope for change through traditional psychotherapy.
  • Beyond that, I have a clear expertise in relationships, breaking negative patterns of relating and facilitating connection through the freedom of unfiltered vulnerable dialog.
  • I especially work well with Men who struggle with self-esteem, anger issues, and who generally desire to become better Husbands and Fathers.
  • Lastly, I have had great success working with clients who suffer from constant anxiety that eventually feeds into a sense of hopelessness, otherwise known as depression.
  • Though I could never make someone choose you, if you’re eager for change and committed to finding it, I can guarantee that you will.

Video Consultation

In my pursuit to genuinely help others, I’ve turned my free consultation into a comprehensive video to lay the groundwork of systemic thinking. This video provides the foundation of a holistic lens of mental health, where people, problems, and change can make sense when using the appropriate framework. Systemic thinking is empirically supported, and allows for a lens of mental health that utilizes objective data surrounding your adaptive neurology in relation to historic patterns across time. These concepts may seem daunting at first, however once you get it the application for yourself and others is easy. Plus, it just makes the most sense as compared to alternative ways of thinking. Though I have a clear passion in sharing the logic behind systemic education, please note that I’m still a trained therapist capable of deeply connecting in another’s emotional experience.
